I hate being SICK, natural REMEDIES that WORK!!

                    My TOP remedies & solutions!

It is rare for me to get a cold, and when I do, within a day or two at the most, it's gone. I was raised in a culture of natural remedies. I don't believe in running to the doctor's office for antibiotics.. We troubleshoot these things with natural remedies. It helps, of course, if your body is alkaline.

COLD/ FLU

Soaking your feet in hot water with a little mustard powder can unblock a head cold, help to reduce a fever and soothe a headache. Drawing blood to the feet helps to disperse congestion, increases circulation and eases pressure on the blood vessels in your head.
I recommend you soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Water - the HOTTER, the better, with 3-4 tablespoons of DRY MUSTARD powder. In my business we use a phrase: 'you start a fire from the bottom up'. This is also the case here. This works like a charm!!! After you are finished, put on warm socks. It's important to lock in that heat. Continue this (if necessary) until you are back to normal.

 EAR ACHE/ EAR INFECTION




We use 70% rubbing alcohol. This is amazingly effective. I use this with my kids. I just had to do this myself a week ago ... Got an ear infection for the first time in my life. Boy, did it hurt!! I felt it for when my son Dylan got it... he even said, 'See, mommy, it hurts, huh?"
 You can either put a few drops or I like to use a cotton ball. I soak it in the alcohol, put it in the ear. So a few drops would go in and the cotton ball will lock in the heat. It clears up the bacteria and it takes the pain away almost immediately.



SORE THROAT


Gargling warm water with baking soda & lots of HOT tea.  
Green Tea will naturally fight infections. Chamomile Tea is very soothing.
Add a tablespoon of baking soda to warm water. Stir to dissolve. Repeat this process as often as needed until the irritation is gone. 
In my previous post about Prevention, I shared how to do a steam bowl procedure that is awesome for throat also! I recommend that until all irritation is gone.
 
It is so important to keep your body hydrated. Here is a formula to figure out how much water you need: take your body weight divided by 2 - that's what you need to drink in ounces. So if your weight is 200 lbs. You would need to drink at least 100 oz of water. A little more if your body is undergoing stress.

Quick remedies if you feel like you are getting sick...

Changing seasons... sometimes bring a little drama into our lives. This is the time when so many get sick... If you are anything like me, I hate being sick. I don't believe in taking medicines... I was raised with natural remedies. Eastern medicine VS Western medicine. I thank my amazing mom for equipping my sister and I with these little tips. If you start feeling like the cold is coming on, try these natural remedies.

                           Top 3 tips to prevent getting a cold:

  •  I add a spoon of  Asai Berry powder (you can pick up at any organic food store) in our morning juice. This is an awesome way to give your immune system an extra boost.
 'The acai berry is a grape-like fruit harvested from acai palm trees in the rainforests of South America. Acai berries are called superfood, with proponents claiming that they are helpful for a variety of health concerns, including arthritis, cancer, weight loss, high cholesterol, erectile dysfunction, detoxification and improving general health. Acai berries are good source of antioxidants, fiber and heart-healthy fats.'

  • If you already feel weak it is SO important to do these steps that same day to kill the bacteria in the body! 
  1. Boil a pot of water  
  2. Add a spoon of Baking Soda (if at night time, you can also add one packet of chamomile tea - it's very calming)
  3. Breathe that hot air through your nose and your mouth (cover yourself with a blanket so the air doesn't get out) for at least 10 minutes or until the water cooled off. 
  • Drink (alkaline) water with organic greens (you can pick up ay any organic food store) in it. 
Put 1-2 scoops of green powder in cold water.
Remember that if your body is alkaline, NO BACTERIA can live in that environment.
Organic greens will  Revitalize, Purify & Alkalize!!

How Soft Drinks are Affecting Your Body

 Soft Drink is one of the worst beverages that you could be   drinking for your health.


This information is just so disturbing I wanted to share it with you. We do not consume soda, my kids don't drink soda. The only beverages we have in our house is water (God's juice) and milk. And of course, I make a fresh smoothy every morning. We love tea. I came across an article that explains the effects that soda has on your body. I knew it was bad, no idea it was this bad. Hopefully this would be enough motivation for you to cut down on soda intake, if not completely eliminate it from your diet.

Soft drinks are hard on your health
Soft drinks contain little to no vitamins or other essential nutrients. However, it is what they do contain that is the problem: caffeine, carbonation, simple sugars — or worse, sugar substitutes — and often food additives such as artificial coloring, flavoring, and preservatives.

A lot of research has found that consumption of soft drinks in high quantity, especially by children, is responsible for many health problems that include tooth decay, nutritional depletion, obesity, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease. Why the sugar in soft drinks isn’t so sweet
Most soft drinks contain a high amount of simple sugars. The USDA recommendation of sugar consumption for a 2,000-calorie diet is a daily allotment of 10 teaspoons of added sugars. Many soft drinks contain more than this amount!

Just why is too much sugar so unhealthy? Well, to start, let's talk about what happens to you as sugar enters your body. When you drink sodas that are packed with simple sugars, the pancreas is called upon to produce and release insulin, a hormone that empties the sugar in your blood stream into all the tissues and cells for usage. The result of overindulging in simple sugar is raised insulin levels. Raised blood insulin levels beyond the norm can lead to depression of the immune system, which in turn weakens your ability to fight disease.

Something else to consider is that most of the excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain and elevates risk for heart disease and cancer. One study found that when subjects were given refined sugar, their white blood cell count decreased significantly for several hours afterwards. Another study discovered that rats fed a high-sugar diet had a substantially elevated rate of breast cancer when compared to rats on a regular diet. The health effects of diet soda
You may come to the conclusion that diet or sugar-free soda is a better choice. However, one study discovered that drinking one or more soft drinks a day — and it didn’t matter whether it was diet or regular — led to a 30% greater chance of weight gain around the belly. Ouch!!!

Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, or saccharin. These artificial sweeteners pose a threat to your health. Saccharin, for instance, has been found to be carcinogenic, and studies have found that it produced bladder cancer in rats.

Aspartame, commonly known as nutrasweet, is a chemical that stimulates the brain to think the food is sweet. It breaks down into acpartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol at a temperature of 86 degrees. (Remember, your stomach is somewhere around 98 degrees.) An article put out by the University of Texas found that aspartame has been linked to obesity. The process of stimulating the brain causes more cravings for sweets and leads to carbohydrate loading.

Carbonation depletes calciumBeverages with bubbles contain phosphoric acid, which can severely deplete the blood calcium levels; calcium is a key component of the bone matrix. With less concentration of calcium over a long time, it can lower deposition rates so that bone mass and density suffer. This means that drinking sodas and carbonated water increases your risk of osteoporosis. (See: AJCN)
Add in the caffeine usually present in soft drinks, and you are in for even more trouble. Caffeine can deplete the body’s calcium, in addition to stimulating your central nervous system and contributing to stress, a racing mind, and insomnia.

Skip the soda and go for:

• Fresh water
Water is a vital beverage for good health. Each and every cell needs water to perform its essential functions.

•Fresh Juice/Smoothy first thing in the morning

• Tea
Tea gently lifts your energy and has numerous health benefits. Black, green, white, and oolong teas all contain antioxidant polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks as high or higher than many fruits and vegetables on the ORAC scale, the score that measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods.

Herbal tea does not have the same antioxidant properties, though it is still a great beverage choice with other health benefits, such as inducing calming and relaxing effects.

Alkaline VS Acidic. Your body pH affects everything!!

 Balancing the pH is a major step toward well-being and greater health.

Human blood pH should be slightly alkaline ( 7.35 - 7.45 ).  Below or above this range means symptoms and disease.  A pH of 7.0 is neutral.  A pH below 7.0 is acidic.  A pH above 7.0 is alkaline. 
 
An acidic pH can occur from, an acid forming diet, emotional stress, toxic overload, and/or immune reactions or any process that deprives the cells of oxygen and other nutrients.  The body will try to compensate for acidic pH by using alkaline minerals.  If the diet does not contain enough minerals to compensate, a build up of acids in the cells will occur.
An acidic balance will:  decrease the body's ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease the energy production in the cells, decrease it's ability to repair damaged cells, decrease it's ability to detoxify heavy metals, make tumor cells thrive, and make it more susceptible to fatigue and illness.  A blood pH of 6.9, which is only slightly acidic, can induce coma and death. 
 
The reason acidosis is more common in our society is mostly due to the typical American diet, which is far too high in acid producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing foods like fresh vegetables.  Additionally, we eat acid producing processed foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid producing beverages like coffee and soft drinks.  We use too many drugs, which are acid forming; and we use artificial chemical sweetners like NutraSweet, Spoonful, Sweet 'N Low, Equal, or Aspartame, which are poison and extremely acid forming.  One of the best things we can do to correct an overly acid body is to clean up the diet and lifestyle. 
 
To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods.  To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods. 
 
Generally, alkaline forming foods include: most fruits, green vegetables, peas, beans, lentils, spices, herbs and seasonings, and seeds and nuts.
 
Generally, acid forming foods include: meat, fish, poultry, eggs, grains, and legumes. 
 

An acidic body is a sickness magnet. What you eat and drink will impact where your body's pH level falls. Balance is Key !!! 

A few tips on achieving the desired level of Alkalinity:

  • Substitute Acidic Beverages (soda) for Alkaline Water (99% of bottled water is acidic)
  • Add Organic Greens (you can buy this powder in any health food store, Tony Robbins swears by it). Add this to any water, it will make it alkaline
  • Eat lots of FRESH fruits/vegetables
No bacteria/decease can live in an alkaline environment. Our bodies are amazing. Once your body is alkaline and healthy, it will repair itself!

A little style please!! Before & After Pics...

It is SO fun to be a GIRL!!


I feel like I just went back in time. Found my photo album from my first year in the States. 16 years old, unpolished, clueless and definitely a bit scary.. LOL. All I am thinking is thank goodness for a few people who helped me get out of whatever style I was in.

I still ask my mom how the heck she let me out of the house with those eyebrows! I mean WOW. Isn't it crazy how you think you look good, years later you wonder how the heck you went out in public looking like that.
Here is my belief ... us girls can have so much fun being a girl. Matter of fact, we have to take care of ourselves and look our best. God gave us natural beauty that we can enhance with very little. I don't spend a lot of money on make-up... I will be putting out some videos showing how I do my make-up. You will see it doesn't take much to have the LOOK.

 I believe in looking my best at all times! Here is why... We are all in sales. We sell ourselves all the time. So we have to take care of ourselves on the inside  (Size 4 to size 10 in 9 months! My journey to HEALTH!) and the outside.

  Listen girls, if you are married, you have got to keep your spouse INTERESTED. You have got to look GOOD for him. I know many women who take care of their husbands, their kids, their pets, their house and not themselves. That has to stop. You are  no good to no one with that mindset. It doesn't take much to look like you just stepped out of the Beauty Salon. So...  Let's spice things up!


  Please post comments about what you would like to learn about... I get a lot of questions about how I do my makeup. I love makeup! It is like art to me. I have been fascinated with it for a long time. For those of you who don't know how to do it, don't worry. It's simple and with a little practice, 5-10 minutes and you are out the door in style!


Beauty tip for today: wax your eyebrows, drink lots of alkaline water (secret to beautiful skin), get your hair done and touch up with a little make-up.

Retire Young and RICH!

Until December of 2011, this would not be a conversation I would get fired up about. It's so fascinating how American Life can spoil one... I feel most of us live in the NOW, thinking that everything will just work itself out. So most of us don't plan for the future. Matter of fact, average American spends more time planning a family vacation than planning their financial future.

 My girlfriend phoned me up and invited me to a FREE dinner to come meet their new business partner and hear about retirement strategies. My thoughts were, I will go, it will be some pitch I won't be interested in... I will politely take some brochures, hang out, eat and continue with my life.
 Well, ladies and gentlemen, the information blew me away. The gentleman that was speaking is like the Donald Trump of Finances. He was there to simply educate, not sell and convince. I have been in the industry long enough to smell that kind of thing from miles away. I walked away with a few resources to study. My journey to financial planning/taxes/tax-free retirement began. There is HUGE difference in just working hard and working HARD and SMART. 

 Another problem is that there are a lot of 'experts' who advise you to do the wrong thing. And how do you really know that they are giving you advise that is actually a sound advise for you, or just advise to put the most money in their bank account? I always approach any information given to me with that in mind. SO after lots of studying and research over the last 10 months, I am fired up to share a few important things that I believe everyone should be educated on.

 There are some insane things going on around us... how about this: Since 1960, the U.S. national debt has grown from about $296 billion to over $16 trillion. It's hard to comprehend a trillion, but one was is this: A million seconds is about 11.5 days and a billion seconds is about 32 years; but a trillion seconds is about 32,000 years. (source: CNN.com Feb 4, 09). How long do you think U.S.

Government can continue with programs like Social Security? 401Ks are becoming 101Ks. Pensions are disappearing. Bottom line is this: if you don't plan for your golden ages, no one else will. 98% of the population at the point of retirement, retire depending on friends, family and the federal government. 2% are financially successful. We got to wake up our friends and family, and start planning!!!

 Here is a must-read book: "Tax-Free Retirement" by Patrick Kelly. This book should be required reading for everyone. I opened the book and couldn't lay it down. It was so clear and concise.Seriously, how excited can you get about a book on retirement and financial planning? I am telling you, WOW!!! I am just thinking about the impact these concepts Patrick has brought to light will have on the thousands of people.I personally feel responsible to share it.
 Let me share a true story from the 1968 Olympics. "A full hour after the winner of the Olympic marathon had crossed the finish line, Tanzania's John Stephen Akhwari limped across the finish line, injured from a fall early in the race. Asked why he didn't quit, he said, "My country didn't send me 7,000 miles to start the race. My country sent me here to finish the race." (Pastor Stuart Bond, Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church)

 Just like that runner, I know all of us want to finish the race we started. Until last December, I had a very strong start to the race and realized I didn't have a financial plan to finish strong. Keys to ULTIMATE Energy & Health!

     YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT


 About 6-7 years ago, I was seeking a way to have more energy. I would wake up after sleeping for 7-8 hours and still be tired! Crazy, right? I tried crazy things to increase my energy level, basically putting a band-aid on the problem... For an example, I went through a few weeks of consuming 1-2 RedBulls a day until I got rashes all over my skin.

 After reading many books on this topic, researching nutrition (which is very contradicting), I landed on this book: "Unlimited Power" by Tony Robbins. To be specific, chapter 10 changed our lives! Talk about a REVELATION!!! And if you don't believe me, get the book, read that chapter and follow those 6 principles for 3-4 weeks. You will feel like a million bucks!

  This will absolutely challenge your beliefs about health. How I wish they would teach this in schools! Can you imagine? If you had the most beautiful race car in the world, but in stead of running it on gas, you run it on beer, how far would it go? Explains why heart disease and cancers are so common.

  Let's get into the 3 principles: First key to ultimate energy & health is effective fruit consumption. Fruit is the most perfect food. It takes the least amount of energy to digest and gives the body the most in return. Fruit is cleansing and nurturing all at the same time (we talked about the importance of cleansing your body in my previous blog). Here is the only problem is that most people don't know that you MUST eat fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit is designed to go right through your stomach in a few minutes and into the intestines, where it releases it's sugars. If you eat it after a meal, the fruit gets trapped in the stomach and begins to ferment (which causes indigestion, gas, burping, etc).

1.  Here is what we do: we drink a fresh smoothy (all fruit and a little ice) first thing in the morning. For those of us who want to stay young, here is another motivating fact. First thing in the morning, your cells need nutrients (that are in fresh fruits/vegetables). If you don't provide the right nutrition, your cells go into the largest part of your body, the skin, and take the needed nutrients. You will age faster. So hey, nourish your body with fresh fruit. The best kind is freshly squeezed fruit juice/smoothy (don't drink processed juice; it's acidic). I love how Tony Robbins puts it. "Do you want to make the most valuable purchase you can? Buy a juicer. Do you own a car? Sell your car and buy a juicer. The juicer will take you further." I own a blender (that way there is no waste).




My favorite fruit to use for the smoothies:
  • pineapples
  • oranges
  • mangos
  • peaches
  • apples
  • berries - frozen or fresh - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc
  • bananas
  • kiwis


  2. The second key to ultimate energy & health is the principle of effective combining. This is pretty simple: Some foods should not be eaten with others. Different types of foods require different types of digestive juices, and not all digestive juices are compatible. For example, when you eat starchy foods (rice, potatoes, bread, etc) your stomach produces one kind of digestive fluid (won't bore you with fancy terminology). Protein foods (meat, dairy, nuts, seeds, etc) require a different type of digestive fluid. When combined together, they neutralize each other. Your digestion becomes impaired and completely arrested. As a result, you have gas, loss of energy, toxicity, just a bunch of drama that you don't need!! Have you ever felt so exhausted after a meal? And ... watch this: American food: burgers, hot dogs, pizza, sandwiches, meat & potatoes, milk&cereal (starch+protein - wrong combination) - no wonder America is experiencing crazy health problems & obesity is at all times high. Here is how we eat (most of the time =)) : LOTS of water-based foods (fresh salads, veggies) plus meat; or water-based foods with starches. Try it, you will be just AMAZED that after a meal you feel ENERGY vs problems. By the way, if you just have these habits, you will lose weight (if you could afford to lose some)!!

3.  The third key is eating water-based foods. 80% of your body is water. Therefore most of the diet should contain water-based foods. That means fresh fruits or vegetables, or their juices freshly squeezed. Eating these also makes your body alkaline VS dead foods (packaged, chips, you know dead foods) make your body acidic. NO disease can live in an alkaline body.
 I challenge you to try these few principles and get the book to learn the other three. Can I tell you that our house never gets sick? My kids are learning the proper way to take care and nourish their bodies? Here is what I also realize... most of you won't do it. I challenge you to go against the masses and take a stand for your health and your family's health. Just try little improvements everyday. I promise you .. that's how I did it.

Size 4 to size 10 in 9 months! My journey to HEALTH!


In Russia, we grew all of our own fruits and vegetables. We fish, I love salmon and fresh caviar...yam! No GMO, no preservatives like today, overall very healthy considering the now day and and age. So when I came to the US, I was blown away by the grocery stores. The food was SO cheap! Pineapples, bananas, oranges, anything that would have to be shipped was not something that we could afford to buy. So as you can imagine, I couldn't stop eating! Fast-food was a new concept for me. Everything was just SO good!

  Nine months later, I was a size 10 (from size 4)!!!  My face was covered with pimples. I was a complete mess. I will never forget the day I arrived back home. My mom couldn't believe what happened to her daughter in the US!

 The next morning (keep in mind I flew 18 hours - a few days of travel, time difference, etc) , my mom wakes me up at 7am... says 'drink this'! A glass of warm a bit salty water. My mom planned a yoga cleanse for me. An hour of drinking a glass then doing an a set of exercises, drinking, exercises, drinking, exercises - the process of the CLEANSE began! Nice! Have you ever done a cleanse like this?? OMG!!! I probably lost 5 lbs in an hour!

 So the warm salty water goes through your whole system: your intestines, colon, etc... amazing what happens... it takes all this stuff off the walls of your insides and flushes that out. You would be shocked how much 'crap' is inside!! Disgusting!!! Very effective but it is not an easy process to endure.

 Within a week, my face cleared up, no more drama, as I like to say. See, the toxins inside your body get through the walls of your colon, get into the blood stream and it shows on your body, for most of us, on our face. I am sure you have heard by now the phrase: 'You are what you eat."

 Have you ever cleansed your body? You do realize not everything that you eat actually gets digested. Just think about it. Good news is there are much easier ways to accomplish that. I love Brian Tracy's method: 1 level table spoon of sea salt in a quart of warm water (preferably alkalized) first thing in the morning (3-5 times a year). Just think of it like this... you have dirty dishes..would you ever wash them with ice cold water?

 Since then I have discovered 6 principles of ultimate energy and health. I will share those in my next post. I get people asking me all the time my secrets on this. So since that size 10, I went back to my normal 4-6 .. and after having 2 kids I am a size 0. It's about nurturing and cleansing your body, not clogging and poisoning it.

Welcome to Nadya Melton Blogging Site...

  What do you think about blogging? If you are anything like me, my thoughts were ... 'blogging...who has time for that?' Until God gave me a revelation to take my experiences and knowledge to the marketplace...

 To share a little bit about my background so we are not complete strangers...
      I am a Christian.. a wife to the most amazing husband John... a mother to an 8 year old boy and my spicy almost 4 year old daughter... I am originally from Russia... matter of fact, my nickname is, 'Russian Hammer' LOL... I moved to the USA when I was 16 years old. Came through a student exchange program, ended up going to college in IN, graduated in 2000 with 2 degrees at the age of 19 ready to conquer the world... until I figured out that the traditional 9-5 was not gonna get me to where I wanted to go. So thank Goodness, I was introduced to the Personal Development/Home Based Business industry then... I call that my 'real' business education that equipped me for LIFE.


   I met my husband at the age of 20 and since then, he and I have been growing businesses and ourselves. We have been able to create a financially free lifestyle... AND... a few months back, I had a revelation that we HAVE to share our knowledge, insights and experience with our community.
I am absolutely addicted to constantly learning and growing and now sharing!

I will be sharing with all of you in my upcoming posts amazing insights … anything starting with natural Russian remedies of beauty to best investments out in the world today to tips on grooming kids to ways on ‘spicing up’ your marriage. I have lived my life with this principle: if something frustrated me (my child wouldn’t obey, couldn’t overcome a business objection, etc) I would go and master that area of my life.
